This superb song, one of four George Harrison compositions on The Beatles, is particularly notable for the guest appearance of Eric Clapton, adding a typically lyrical lead guitar contribution at George's request. His overdub was taped on 6 September, six weeks after George had first demonstrated the song in the studio as a no less moving but quite different acoustic guitar and organ rendition. In between times it became the Beatles' first eight-track recording at EMI.
