Yellow Submarine 99 - track 15

Originally just 'Too Much', this George Harrison song was recorded before and after the 1 June 1967 issue of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, starting on 25 May and ending 2 June. Four trumpets and a clarinet add to the deliberate cacophony which originally extended beyond eight minutes but was edited for release.

The Beatles began recording 'It's All Too Much' on May 25, 1967. Four takes of the rhythm track - organ, lead guitar, bass guitar, and drums - were recorded under the working title 'Too Much'. A reduction mix-down from take four (into takes 1 and 2), running 8'09" was completed on May 26. Additional percussion, George Harrison's lead vocal and John Lennon and Paul McCartney's backing vocals and handclaps were overdubbed onto take 2. Four trumpets and a bass clarinet overdub were added on June 2 and two mono mixes were prepared on October 12.

The mono version of the UK LP "Yellow Submarine" has the stereo mix with the tracks combined to simulate mono, rather than a unique, separate mono mix.

One of the mono mixes prepared on October 12 was used for the film "Yellow Submarine." This mix has been bootlegged and can be found on "Strawberry Fields Forever" (CD). A rough, pre-final mix has also been bootlegged and can be found on "Arrive Without Aging" (CD). This mix runs 8'33".

In 1999 a new re-mix was created for the re-release of the 'Yellow Submarine' Soundtrack
