Title: Getting Better Sgt. Peppers Loneley Hearts Club Band
Credits: John Lennon - Paul McCartney
Recorded: EMI Studios London, 9 March 1967
Producer: George Martin
Engineer: Geoff Emerick
Location: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - track 4

A fine Paul McCartney song, with a little lyrical help from John Lennon. like Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, the recording includes a tamboura played by George Harrison.

The Beatles began recording 'Getting Better' on March 9, 1967 for release on the LP "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." Seven takes of the rhythm track - guitars, bass and drums and George Martin playing the piano by actually striking the strings - were recorded this day. Five reduction mixes were made (take 7 into takes 8 - 12); the "best" being take 12. On March 10, overdubs of George Harrison playing tamboura, Paul McCartney playing bass guitar and Ringo Starr's drums were added. Tape reduction mixes (take 12 into takes 13 and 14) were done on March 21 and lead and backing vocals were added to take 14. New vocals were recorded March 23, and a reduction mix was prepared (take 14 into take 15). Onto this take, Ringo overdubbed bongos and three mono mixes were prepared, the third being "best." The stereo mix was created on April 17 in one remix.
