The Beatles recorded 'I'll Be Back' in 16 takes. A mono mix was prepared on June 10 from take 16 but was never released. Different mono mixes were used for the US (re-mix 3) and the UK (re-mix 2), although only one stereo mix was made. These mixes were all prepared June 22, 1964. The stereo release of the US LP "Beatles '65" contains this track in reprocessed stereo.

On February 26, 1987 the album "A Hard Day's Night" was released in both the US and the UK on the CD format. Originally, a new stereo mix was prepared for this release; however, George Martin later remixed the album in mono. The new mono mix is found on the CD release of the album "A Hard Day's Night."

Takes 2 and 3 from the June 1, 1964 recording session were later released in both the US and the UK on November 21, 1995 on "The Beatles Anthology Volume 1."
