A German language recording of I Want To Hold Your Hand, made solely for the West German audience although demand in the USA for Beatles recordings in 1964 ensured that it was also issued there as an album track. Although the Beatles new some German, having played there extensively between 1960 and 1962, the lyrics were written out phonetically; only the vocals were recorded anew, the luxury of four-track tape saving the group from re-making the music track and perfected in eleven overdub takes.
