The first of three Tamla Mowton cover version (the last in recording order), all sung by John, 'Please Mister Postman' - written by Georgia Dubbins, William Garrett, Freddie Gorman, Brian Holland and Robert Bateman, the latter two under their joint pseudonym, 'Brianbert' - was originally recorded by the Marvelettes, yet another all-girl-group much favoured by the Beatles, and it was a US number one hit for them in December 1961.
