John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison recorded themselves on a borrowed tape recorded in 1959. The tape sat undisturbed in a Liverpool attic until the grandson of the owner discovered it in 1995. Along with 15 other songs, the tape contains 'Hello Little Girl'. No copies of this recording have surfaced.

The Beatles taped themselves rehearsing 'Hello Little Girl' sometime during 1960. Some experts believe this rehearsal session may have been in Liverpool or at the Indra Club in Hamburg, Germany. This recording has been bootlegged.

The Beatles recorded this song at their London audition for Decca Records on January 1, 1962. This recording was released in both the US and the UK on November 21, 1995 on "The Beatles Anthology Volume 1."

John Lennon wrote this song and later gave it to The Fourmost, who recorded it in early July 1963. The song was released in the UK as a single on August 30, 1963 and in the US on November 15, 1963.
